SAFETY BEFORE PROFIT!

THE SAILFISH MARINA IS FOCUSED ON THE BOTTOM LINE, NOT BOATERS SAFETY. READ THE NOTE SENT TO US BELOW:

"Hello, i wanted to drop you a line to let you know about my experience on Saturday 2/24.

We were traveling in our Hatteras 54 from Norfolk Va to Key West Fl. We needed diesel fuel and pulled into the Lake Worth inlet. We spoke with the dock hands at Sailfish Marina fuel dock. They stated the owner of the Sailfish marina docked his boat at the T end fuel dock and they were not going to move it. They suggested we pull in between two of the southern docks, back into a slip and they would sell us fuel. It was an unfamiliar marina to me, although i have 25 years in experience in boating i took the advice of the Sailfish Mariana employees. As soon as we turned in we were in trouble. There was about a 5 knot current traveling North to South and we turned broadside into it per the advice of the Sailfish employees. Our large bow thruster could not keep up with the strong current and in seconds we were pushed sideways south and made contact with three boats that were docked on the southern point of the Sailfish marina. This caused damage to our vessel along with the other three vessels.

When i spoke with the FWC agent to report the incident he told me he gets two to three calls a month to Sailfish Marina for the same reports of damage. They refer to the issue every month as "bumper boats"

It is my opinion that the distance between the docks is too small to handle large boats as the extremely strong current causes a navigational hazard.

I wanted to personally thank you and your employee that fueled us up at your easily accessible and safe fuel dock. I understand your employee came in on a day off just to take care of us after the unfortunate incident the evening prior.

Thank you again for providing a needed service to the boating public."
